Position Title: Health Educator for Diabetes Prevention Program

Where are you from? From Fontana, CA and graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. 

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I wanted to gain hands-on experience in the public health realm through service, while also fostering community and developing my leadership skills with a cohort. 

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to learn about the history of Chicago and each community that makes the city as spectacular as it is. My goal is to gain a better understanding of how to address barriers to quality healthcare, especially among black and brown populations. 

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

I’m looking forward to the small interactions I’ll get to share with others, whether it be through service, bonding events, or just in passing.
