Hello! My name is Melanie Biegler and I recently graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. I minored in Spanish for the Health Professions and spent a lot of time working with the Spanish-speaking communities on the South Side of Milwaukee. These experiences really sparked my interest in public health and passion for trying to minimize overwhelming health disparities such as those that I saw in the communities surrounding where I went to school. I am fascinated by the concept of health and want to pursue a profession in osteopathic medicine following my year of service.
This year I look forward to learning more about the communities I will be working with. I hope to become a better educator and learn how I can create an impactful message that acknowledges the effect that culture and understanding can have on how education is received. I am so excited to meet my fellow members and learn knew ways to reach communities while exploring Chicago and making new friendships along the way!
