Homewood Children's Village held their Power Pack Holiday Dinner last night.
Bobby Theiss, 2014-2015 PHC member at Primary Care Health Services, Inc., poses with a client.
Power Pack is a program to combat weekend hunger in Homewood for school age students ranging from daycare age through high school. All 218 students who receive a Power Pack and their families were invited to the Holiday Dinner. The event was coordinated by Pittsburgh Health Corps member Emma Seagle and her mentor Kristi. The Holiday Dinner was held to bring all of the families together and to provide extra resources during the holiday season. Along with dinner, families could learn more about benefits such as SNAP and WIC from YWCA representatives, make crafts, and take a holiday family portrait.

Additionally, there was a nutrition education station where both children and parents could learn more about healthy cooking and shopping and how to read food labels. This station was led by our two amazing members from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Justine Barr and Michelle O'Leary. Bobby Theiss, a member who serves in the Homewood community, also helped out serving food for all 27 families (125 people) in attendance and passing out dinner baskets to each family full of food for the Holiday!
The event was a huge success and the families were all smiles as they enjoyed a relaxing night!
