Hi, my name is Genesis and I recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago where I majored in Psychology. I am originally from Chicago, and I am excited to serve in National Health Corps Chicago to help the people of the city I grew up in and to become more involved in the community. Throughout my service term, I am looking forward to using the skills I learned in school and previous work experiences and applying it to my position as a Community Outreach and Education Coordinator at CommunityHealth. Since I have a background in Psychology, I am very passionate about mental health and reducing the stigma that comes with it. I hope to learn more about what the different barriers to healthcare are and how to make healthcare more accessible to communities. I would also like to learn how to effectively administer programs and resources to help people. I ultimately want to go into graduate school for Health Communication, so I am hoping that my term will help bring a new perspective into my studies.
My hobbies include singing like no one is around and finding new places to eat. I love travelling because I am very interested in learning about other cultures and viewpoints. I know that there is such a diverse world, and I love learning about things that are different from me. I am also looking forward to making new friends that have a passion to help others as I do.
