Friday, July 12, 2013, the Chicago Health Corps hosted its end of year Recognition Ceremony for its members. CHC members, staff, and site supervisors gathered at Ann Sather's Restaurant in the Lakeview neighborhood. During this ceremony each member's'Wave of Change" was recognized and honored. Supervisors and guests from each host site took the floor to share how their Chicago Health Corps member impacted the community and superseded their expectations.
The nostalgia in the air was nearly tangible. Members laughed, cried, and hid their faces at the sight of embarrassing photos. It was a time to reflect, a time to celebrate, and a time to be amazed at all the members had accomplished. A gleeful supervisor from Seven Generations Ahead recited an improvised poem. Another supervisor from Heartland Alliance could barely leave the stage for fear of failure to mention one of her member's hundred accomplishments.
