Position Title: Health Promotion Coordinator

Why did you join NHC Pittsburgh?

I wanted to be closer to home during my gap year so I could save money. I also enjoy volunteering and helping underserved communities. I have recently discovered that I have an interest in public health, and this was an opportunity for me to delve into that.

What do you hope to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to network with people in the public health sector and also connect with likeminded (as well as not likeminded) individuals. I also hope to learn more about the applicability of my degree in biochemistry. I want to find ways to make it accessible to others.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

Being creative and leading programs.

What is something you appreciate about serving in Pittsburgh/at your Host Site?

I love meeting with community members and connecting with the people I am serving. I also enjoy working with other nonprofits in Pittsburgh, it has been inspiring to see all the types of ways that people serve their communities.

What are your plans after your service as an AmeriCorps member

As of right now, I hope to go back to school and pursue Environmental Health or Environmental Chemistry.
