NHC Central California Program Coordinator, Ebony Goytia Hermosillo, shares her experiences and career path with NHC Central California member, Camila Urbieta.
Position: NHC CC Program Coordinator
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
What are your main responsibilities?: I recruit members, train members, and help to place them in our federally qualified health clinics. Often, I outreach, I research for trainers/trainings, and I check in with the members. I manage the programmatic pieces – timesheets, agendas, service/training components, committees, and more.
How did you get started in the position you are in?: I first started my position with a few familiar names in the cohort. I’m from the Central Valley, went to school in the Central Valley, and it can be a small world sometimes. When I started, I had already known a couple of members since I went to college with them. That was a bit of a shock. I was getting my footing, I attended PSO along with some of the members and we hit the ground running. Soon enough, the program director let me know that she was leaving! Then, it was the CVHN CEO and me leading the team. I was scared but I was also full of ideas and enthusiasm! Initially, it was a lot of organizing, brainstorming, and managing issues, and that’s still the program.
What do you find rewarding about your work? What are some challenges you face?: I love that I get the opportunity every day to connect, to learn, and to lead. It’s a special privilege to say that I work at a health network, and I help to manage the volunteers who serve at the health clinics. I’ve grown so much in my time here with Central Valley Health Network. It can be challenging with the remote/ hybrid service, but it makes it more special when I have in-person events. The NHC members - yes, you, Cami – are all so wonderful and amazing leaders. I have the greatest pleasure and luck to get to know them and follow them along in their careers.
