Hi all! My name is Becca Biddick and I am a new member of the National Health Corps Chicago team for the 2016-2017 term of service. Born and raised in Wisconsin, I am a recent graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison. Through my coursework, as a Sociology major with a Global Health minor, and numerous volunteer experiences in college, I have found a passion in learning about and practicing public health. My other interests include spending time with my family and friends, volunteering, social justice, and being outside.
As I look forward to the next year that I'll be spending with Fantus Health Centers, as a Health Educator, many different aspects excite me. I am most excited to get into the field of public health using the knowledge I have while also learning more. I am also eager to spend time working with other Americorps members! Some things I am hoping to gain in this next year are a deeper understanding of the challenges that are taking place in healthcare in Chicago and similarly elsewhere. I hope that this next year will allow me to grow and develop skills that I can use both now and in the future as an advocate for underserved populations.
