Where are you from?

Cupertino, California

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I joined NHC because I wanted to make a difference and serve my local community. I am interested in the fields of public health and medicine, and NHC would allow me to gain valuable experience in these fields. I am passionate about increasing access to healthcare, and while I’ve had some experience participating in health advocacy and health education, I hope to build on these skills during my service term and apply it to larger populations.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

Through NHC, I hope to learn more about the fields of public health and medicine, and I hope to learn more about the needs of San Francisco residents in regards to healthcare and healthcare access, and how to increase access. I want to learn more about health disparities and inequities, and learn how to address them. By working with diverse populations, I hope to learn from patients’ experiences and become an advocate for them. I hope to gain valuable clinical experience during my service term, so that I can apply this to my future career, and make the healthcare field more compassionate and welcoming. Lastly, I hope to continue to develop as a student and leader, and use my experiences from this program to help patients live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am most looking forward to working with other NHC members and working at my host site. I hope to form strong connections with everyone in the program and with other individuals within the San Francisco community. I am also looking forward to working in San Francisco and exploring the city!
