Position Title: Community Outreach Coordinator
Where are you from? Pittsburgh, PA
Why did you decide to join NHC?
I found that NHC gave me the perfect opportunity to serve the community that I grew up in in a meaningful way. I am also able to have valuable clinical experiences, which I know will go a long way in my pursuit of becoming a physician.
What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
I am hoping to learn what kinds of community resources are out there, and how to utilize them effectively. Living in Pittsburgh, I have been privileged and fortunate enough not to have needed any community resources growing up. Now I want to explore the various resources offered and help out in any way that I can so that they may serve the community better.
What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I most look forward to making a difference in the patients’ lives where I serve. Substance abuse disorder and addiction not only impact the patient’s physical health, but also impact their ties to their family and community. By connecting them to the right resources and providing the necessary support, I hope to help them on their journey to recovery. Other than my service, I look forward to connecting with my fellow peers in the ’22 NHC cohort and creating strong friendships.
