Before October comes to an end I must write about the importance of early detection of Breast Cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. At AmeriCorps we are determined to help our underserved communities get the best health services they need and deserve. This includes health prevention and education.
Breast Cancer is a topic that is close to my heart. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. It was a difficult time for my family and I. When this happened, I knew I had to learn how to detect any symptoms and educate myself more on the topic. I wanted to share that valuable information not only with my loved ones but with my community too. So to the people reading this, what I ask of you is to not forget about breast cancer simply because October is over. Remember the survivors, those who lost a loved one, or the ones who were just recently diagnosed. Breast Cancer Awareness should be 365 days a year not just one month.
