Jessica Chase: See what our PHC member is doing for Healthy Future March!

March is Healthy Future month. How are you creating a healthy future for the community that you serve?
At my host site (Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, Inc.), I've been able to co-lead our Health Insurance Certified Application Counselor project. I am a Certified Application Counselor and have thus far planned three enrollment events in Pittsburgh. At these events, we have successfully enrolled people, who were uninsured previously, in health insurance. By assisting our community with the health insurance enrollment process, we are helping to make healthcare more affordable and ultimately helping to create a healthy future. I was also recently able to meet and present to Bill Basl, the Director of AmeriCorps State and National, about my experience thus far at my host site!

How has your experience serving with the Pittsburgh Health Corps (PHC) so far helped you with your future aspirations?
The PHC has definitely helped to further inspire and solidify my career goal of becoming a physician in an underserved community someday.
