Position Title: Advocate for People Experiencing Homelessness

Where are you from? 

Lawrenceville, New Jersey

Why did you join NHC Pittsburgh?

Because I want to spend my gap year serving the Pittsburgh community. The program I will be working with, Second Avenue Commons, appealed to me because of the many things it offers. A free clinic, mobile care unit, and the chance to help connect those experiencing homelessness to housing and healthcare are all things that I want to be involved in in my future.

What do you hope to gain or learn during your service term?    

I hope to gain experience working with an underserved community, as that is what I want to do with my medical career.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?            

Helping out at the free clinic and mobile care unit in the shelter, helping brainstorm activities for those in the shelter, and helping connect those in the shelter to affordable housing and healthcare.
