Why did you decide to join NHC? 
I decided to join NHC because I found it to be the perfect opportunity to engage in meaningful service and learn about healthcare disparities that refugee communities face. As someone with hopes of practicing medicine in the future, I reckon that understanding and actively working to bridge healthcare gaps for the underserved is integral to becoming a compassionate and well-rounded physician.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term? 
I hope to learn more about the entire healthcare process for refugees as they integrate themselves into their new community, from scheduling their initial healthcare screenings to enrolling them in health insurance. With many of them fleeing war and political turmoil, the opportunity to learn from them and hear their stories is a privilege, and I am honored to serve them. I hope to do my part in helping them find high-quality healthcare to my utmost ability.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I am most looking forward to making meaningful connections with the refugee patients I serve and hopefully exploring the city of Philadelphia with my fellow AmeriCorps members!
