Our History
Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare has served Nassau County and the surrounding communities since 1992, when it opened under the name Nassau County Mental Health Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council, Inc. We are a private, not-for-profit agency providing psychiatric treatment, mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment. Our goal is to provide a coordinated approach to care that meets the individual needs of the client and addresses the total behavioral health needs of the community. Through collaborative efforts with other health care providers, we have created a robust treatment approach that includes private clinicians, family service agencies, the legal system, schools, clergy and hospitals.
Our Team
Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare has a team of board-certified Psychiatrists, Psychiatric ARNPs, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Certified Addiction Professionals, and Certified Targeted Case Managers, and Certified Prevention Professional all supported by financial and administrative staff. Of our 50 employees, 25 hold a Master’s Degree or higher.
