The emergency room serves more than 40,000 patients each year St. Bernard Hospital is an essential safety-net hospital accredited by the Joint Commission, providing high quality health inpatient and outpatient care services to more than 81,000 patients, annually. The hospital provides comprehensive impatient and outpatient care, offering a wide range of specialties, including obstetrics, dentistry, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, emergency and intensive care services, inpatient/outpatient mental health and medical detoxification services. The hospital is technologically advanced, having electronic medical records, computerized physician order entry, and bar coding of medicines in place to ensure quality and patient safety. Each year, the hospital donates millions of dollars in charity care ensuring that community residents have access to the health care services they need regardless of their ability to pay.

Pediatric Mobile Health Unit (PMHU) provides physical examinations and immunizations to school aged children at area Chicago Public Schools, daycare centers and Headstart programs. The PMHU travels three days a week, serving more than 3,000 children each year.
Women’s Wellness is a comprehensive women’s health clinic providing pre and post-natal care to pregnant women, gynecological examinations, mammography screening as well as social, nutrition and health education to women of all ages.
Partial Hospital Program (PHP) for behavioral health patients expands the hospital’s inpatient detox and mental health programs. PHP provides outpatient care, assisting patients with their transition back into the community while addressing their individual behavioral and mental health care issues.
Adult Mobile Health Unit (AMHU) continues the hospital’s unwavering commitment to providing greater access to health care services. The AMHU provides important screening services for men and women who may not have access to or seek out traditional health services. The AMHU enables patients to connect to the Primary Care Clinic at the new Ambulatory Care Center where they have access to advanced diagnostic services, specialty care, and create a medical home for future health needs. The AMHU visit nursing homes and community centers three days a week.
The Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) has advanced diagnostic imaging services, an onsite pharmacy, and laboratory, making it easy for patients to get the additional lab tests and prescriptions they need. To ease the burden of having to travel to multiple physician offices and to create a true medical home for all patients, the ACC has specialty clinics, including Cardiology, Chronic Disease, and Pulmonology as well as Orthopedics with a Physical Medicine and Occupational Therapy programs. The facility houses 22 physician offices and a Women’s Wellness Center that cares for women of all ages. The center provides Englewood and surrounding south side communities with essential outpatient services in a pleasant environment close to home.
Mobile COVID-19 Testing address the high COVID-19 rates in the neighborhoods served by St. Bernard Hospital. Utilizing the Adult and Pediatric Mobile Health Units, we provide COVID-19 educational literature on how to prevent its spread, distribute wellness kits, in addition to administering COVID-19 testing free of charge at faith based and community health events, Chicago Public Schools and child care centers.
